Goodbye to a Summer Visitor
Nearly Time to Leave
The Swallows I saw at Rufford Abbey in Nottinghamshire today won't be there for much longer. They will soon be leaving to spend the winter, probably in South Africa.
They swooped and darted above us catching insects to top up their fat reserves before beginning their journey.
A remarkable and hazardous journey of around 6000 miles at 200 miles a day.
How many of the people watching them realised that? We are surrounded by the wonders of nature all the time.
It is so easy to let them pass us by.
It's good to just be in the moment and enjoy it. But it's also good sometimes to take a moment to appreciate how marvellous it all is.
